Love your tablet? These tell-tale signs show the world how you use it.
The great thing about a tablet is that the screen is bigger than a smartphone’s and it’s easier to hold lying down than a laptop. So that’s what you do. You lounge. Tablet welded to your person, you perform as many daily activities as you can in a prone position. Email, social media, work, SMS, MMS, video calls, Wikipedia wormholes, online shopping – you do all this from the cushy comfort of your couch. Because you can. Sure, you might have physically bent your tablet after awkwardly napping on it, but hey, it still works so no need to change up your routine. That’ll be the door – can someone get that? It’ll be the food you ordered without setting foot on the floor.
Your tablet screen is covered in little person fingerprints. Some of them are kinda sticky – honey? Jam? Who cares, as long as that tablet is still working, baby. Who knows what the back of your tablet looks like – there is no way it’s coming out of the tougher than tough case you have it in to protect it from your littlest and dearest. Kids’ apps have taken over your tablet and you can have your child’s favourite app open in a second without even looking. Yes, yes – of course you’re mindful of screen time limits, so folks better not be judging you for handing that tablet over to your kid in the restaurant, especially as you’re making their dining experience a lot more pleasant. Oh, so much more pleasant.
The accessories head
Tablet accessories? You have them all, and then some. Some might say that if you’re using a stand, keyboard and stylus with your tablet, you might as well get a laptop. Or even a desktop computer. Those people would be wrong. You love how adaptable your tablet is and how people keep inventing new ways to use it, and new items for you to buy to do so. Your happy place is pouring through online reviews of tablet accessories. You love that box arriving with the latest tech nestled in its cardboard heart, all for you. You know that one tablet case will not suffice. You have a hard one, a soft one, one with a mini reading light built in, a waterproof one…You have tablet cases in so many different colours and patterns, that at this point, your tablet is better dressed than you.
Smartphones? Downsized tablets, to your mind. Why bother? Big screen TV? Get out of here. Everything you can do with a tablet, you do. Every day. You’re the person holding up a tablet in the front row of a concert to take a photo. You’re not embarrassed to use your tablet in public for a simple voice call. You just watched three series of your favourite show on your tablet and you can bet you’ll be watching the next three on it. You’re a regular Spielberg, using your tablet to shoot and edit video. A lot. Gaming on your tablet is a joy and you have no shame hogging the bathroom for as long as you need to achieve gaming greatness. That’s the handy thing about tablets, so portable.
Why send a simple text when you can video call? You love a good chat, one which you punctuate with a quick pan of your surroundings to add some interest. You have the technology and you’re going to use it, even if you’re in exactly the same place as the last time you called. It’s great being able to see the other person’s face and their expressions, their body language. So much more meaningful. And you can keep the conversation going even while you make a cup of tea. It doesn’t matter if that person isn’t answering for some strange reason – you just work your way through your contacts until someone takes the video bait. Look, I’m on the train! You don’t have to take my word for it – you can see that I am! What a world.
